Bio
André Roux was the Western Cape Provincial Government’s Director: Sustainable Resource Management in the Department of Agriculture until his retirement in July 2017, a role he has held since 2007. Prior to this, André was the Department’s Chief Engineer, before which he was Catchment Manager in the Breede River Catchment on behalf of the National Department of Water Affairs. After his retirement he was appointed on a year contract as adviser to the Western Cape Premier on water matters and coordinated the various drought relief programs of the Western Cape Government. During the crisis and in this role he actively liaised between the agricultural sector and all three levels of government. André has a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Stellenbosch.
